Lucifer’s Prescription — Original Artwork
The mesmerising colour of destruction.
Fire is seductive. Beautiful. Powerful. And terrifying.
Lucifer’s Prescription explores the uneasy tension between the breathtaking beauty of fire and the devastation of increasingly frequent bushfires. The work reflects my anxiety about a changing Australian landscape and the growing threat of catastrophic fire.
I began with a dark, moody monochrome underpainting before building layer upon layer of intense colour. Watercolour’s unpredictable nature became an important part of the process, allowing colour and darkness to merge, bleed and collide — creating a sense of movement, heat and emotional tension.
The result is a dramatic and atmospheric work where vibrant flames emerge from deep darkness: beautiful, mesmerising and menacing all at once.
A striking statement artwork for anyone drawn to Australian landscapes, powerful colour and contemporary work with an environmental story.
